Cool. Voltaire, one of my favourite silly music performers, rather than the more-commonly recognised philosopher by the same name, is sounding out the possibility of doing some Australian concerts in Melbourne and Sydney in August. Could be interesting, although I don't really know if it will be doable. At least it's more doable than the Worldcon for me.

Interesting...

It is indeed. Now all I have to do is find out about it if it ever does eventuate. Preferably sometime before it actually occurs, rather than after =8(

If you want to support it he asked if there was any interest as part of his MySpace comments recently.

Well, I'm working on the "more songs" bit, but I still need the violinist (though I may have found one faint possibility to investigate), and the rest of the whatsits I was aiming for.

Not to mention a MySpace of my own. Y'know, I should write that LJ post...

And yes, that's generally the better order in which to have things occur. *grin*

Good hunting! I hear that no one notices, even the conductor, if you kidnap the violionists at the very back of the herd. Although I also hear that you can readily get the help of the bulk of the herd to remove the members at the front of the herd, and even-numbered violinists are always willing to promote themselves to an odd-numbered violinist in the herd. And a bassoonist would probably want to follow you anyway, now that their one job in the herd has been replaced by an electronic device. The trick is trying to keep them in the herd. Or so I've heard.

You mean your Christian rock site? We've already discovered it.

Unfortunately the order tends to be all too often reversed. I'd like to blame it on "these days," except in truth, I have almost always found out about something the day after it happens.

Thank you. I'm not sure I want to hunt in orchestras, though - the risk of having the entire herd stampede is too great. Smaller groups, and watering holes where solitary string-players are known to turn up with their instruments on the right occasion, seem a far better prospect... *grin*

Yeah, the Christian rock site and its friends are their own can of worms, which I should probably write about at some point...

And I know the feeling. Here's hoping that the forewarning helps?

Personally I've always found it easier to cut the cellist out of the larger herds than the smaller four or five player mated groupings. And have had little success with solitary cellists (although a cellist is never really ever considered a solitary animal).

And why would I do that? Well it was a maxim of my life (at least my early life), that all cellists are cute. Even if they are dwarf male bikers. That's why it's a maxim.

On the other hand, viola players are usually so happy that you recognise the differences between them and the violinists (their instrument burns longer), that they will often follow you like happy puppy-dogs.

Brain warming up, now. I now understand the direction this conversation headed in. I actually meant supporting the idea, rather than his looking for support for the gig. <grin>

Sorry for any confusion.

Ah. Rightio - it seemed similar enough to your previous "So you're going to play a gig soon, right?" comments that I evidently got the wrong idea. That's... rather entertaining, really. *grin*

That must've seemed quite the non-sequitur?

And y'know, for all I appreciated the apparently vote of confidence, I did wonder whether my stuff was quite the style one would look for in a support act...
