The Adelaide Fringe is almost upon us again, and these are the shows that I'm going to at the moment. If anyone wants to join me in the queues, or perhaps to have dinner beforehand, please feel free to contact me.

Lawrence Leung and Andrew McClelland's
Somewhat Secret Secret Society Show

Thursday 23rd February, 8pm

Pluck - The Specialists
Saturday 25th February, 7pm

Wendy Rule
Sunday 26th February, 6:30pm

Rod Quantock's Australia!
Wednesday 8th March, 7pm

Corinne Grant - Faking It
Thursday 9th March, 8:15pm

Tripod in Self-Saucing
Tuesday 14th March, 8pm
[This looks like being the official URGA excursion for this Tuesday.]

All the sessions are at special cheap preview prices, so if you want to come, you had better book early. I'll probably head off to see a few more things, if there is stuff other people are also interested in going to. Oh, and they really should have gotten someone competent in to design their booking system. Putting in the name of a show or actor had a less than 1 in two chance of finding it. Be prepared to wait while booking tickets.

Still, I'm rather disappointed in a lot of the Fringe. The comedy line-up is quite good, but a lot of the other shows/groups I was expecting don't seem to have turned up this year (although I am already hearing rumours of dissatisfaction/personality clashes with elements of this year's organizers and various artists). And Sound And Fury are doing the Arizona Renfaire this year.

Edit: Just realised I might not get to see Pluck afterall, especially if Cyoakha Grace from Land of the Blind and Wendy Rule are playing at the Spiegeltent that day. Anyone that has an album titled Unknown Music from Dreamquest of Kadath has half sold me already. Hmmmmmm.

Edit2: I'm going to Pluck on the 25th now (at 7pm), and Wendy Rule on the 26th (at 6:30pm). I've changed the listing above.

tripod! wendy! possibly rod? maybe corinne?

definately lorelei -> looks @ the everest, under visual arts in the badly structured, not really indexed, unpretty guide. [but spend not of your money at that venue. they deserve not our dinars or dollars, for they abuseth of the people who accept their invitation as a fringe venue.]

I don't see us on your list. :p

I'm sorry but I'm still profoundly in awe of one of the last Kino films I saw, which had surprisingly good character development, a solid grounding in plot and story, and extremely animated actors. Very relaxing and surreal. Or perhaps I should say cereal. I think the title was "Grass."

Actually most of the local groups I may end up seeing aren't listed in my first pass in Fringe stuff.

You don't have to apologise for being in awe of Kino films, that's the idea!

I can't place Grass, right now. Did it involve a cute cow?

Nope. Just a field of long grass. No other actors. Static camera. Slight breeze. 15 minutes or so in length. Probably the best film I saw that night. <ducks thrown boot>

Aah. A Blake Lewis speciality. So long as a Carmen episode wasn't screened the same night (though I suspect it was!) you shouldn't have to duck. :p

I won't be booking via the web site, not after the traumas of 2004. But there is indeed lots worth seeing. Go to Pluck--they were worth it last time, and I still remember them two years later.

I suppose I should see if I can get tickets for the Saturday instead, in which case I probably have a ticket to Pluck to give away.
