It appears that Monopoly is getting a new version, complete with electronic sentinel (an IR sensor that continually scans the board) to make sure no one can cheat. Or need to count money. Or do anything else except press a button. And if it feels the game is going too slowly, it will intentionally break the rules. The Computer Is Your Friend! Date: 2011-02-17 01:33 pm (UTC)Some of the iPad/iPhone apps aren't too bad, as they actually model the graphical behavior of physical dice in a box and use the accelerometer to actually roll them.
But yes, I agree that physical dice have a certain quality to them, especially when you cast that 16 die fireball, let alone, the ability to be works of art in their own right. [The set of dice modelled in this icon are a steal at only US$92 a set (in gold-plate).]
