Learning a pseudo-southern accent must have worked well for Anna Paquin, as she has landed the role of Sookie Sackhouse in the upcoming series True Blood, based on Chairlane Harris' Southern Vampire series. Which is good (the actress, not necessarily the books or the series, which is more of a guilty pleasure). But it's being put together by HBO,whose previous attempts at vampire shows suck (and not in the good vampiric way either). Time will tell.
