Whilst watching the latest episode of Legend of the Seeker, a sudden realisation struck me as to why I found the character of Shota so attractive. And it's not just because of the usual reasons of her being a powerful sorceress being played by a very beautiful New Zealand actress (Danielle Cormack). No. It's the simple fact she has a rather uncanny resemblance to an older Kathyrn.
I suspect that it was the slight perm to her hair that was preventing me from consciously realising this earlier. But the above two scenes (especially the one of Danielle behind bars*) really do bring out the resemblance. And it's not just her visage, but how she holds herself and moves. I wonder what she would sound like with a soft British accent rather than a New Zealand one. Unfortunately there are no pictures of a younger Danielle around for me to compare with my very dusty memories, although the resemblance is still there in her IMDB publicity shots. Of course, this journal entry is meaningless to all but a couple of you. * Attempt to cage her, and yes, she would gladly ripe your throat out. With her teeth. And savour every minute of your demise.
