Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sepiachord, I've been introduced to some interesting new music, such as Fermata's album Only Ghost's Remain. Screaming violins, wild vocals, and a throbbing bass and cello. Just my type of music! Try it and see (if you generally like my musical tastes anyway).

Instinct As Eyes

Secretly we pass
Through each others lives
These walls of houses built
long before their time
Have they lost their causes
Tempt me in my elements divine
These empty loses
Are crumbling me inside
The rhythm pauses

Can we resurrect our sighs
Or run through darkness
With instinct as our eyes

And you slipped unnoticed
Though you slipped unnoticed
Through the night
You slipped unnoticed
Through the window of my eyes

Lastly I am of a mind
That long lost love is a star
Whose fuel burns too bright
Its dead light rises

Can we...

And you...

I kissed her
But she was already asleep
Beneath the waves of dreams.

It's not all that grim,. The line about dead stars caught my attention. Try Zura and Gypsy Blood for sheer bounciness (even if the theme of Zura isn't exactly bouncy).

In other music news I'm quite enjoying Zingaia, a lounge group from Swaziland, with very haunting vocals (ala Julee Cruise). [Not to be confused with the goth metal group of the same name.] Their album Dancers of Twilight is well worth listening to (although I doubt it will get much of a chance being catagourisedf as "ambient").

Oh and Witherspoon has a new album out, although I still think I prefer their first one, with the eponymous Thirteen Crows, and Film Noir World has some new music up on MySpace and the promise of an album to come. And Humanwine amd The Divine Comedy look like being interesting things to investigate next (again courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] sepiachord).

*sigh* You and your music recommendations. I really have to get Flash working properly on this machine so I can go investigate...

Seriously, though. Fermata sound fascinating, and win points from the outset for their name. *grin*
