The Idea of North are back in town on the weekend of August 29th to 31st. Playing The Gov on Friday 29th (8pm, $28/$22, 8340 0744 to book [The Gov]), Barossa Arts Centre, Tanunda on Saturday 30th (8pm, $30/$22/$16, 8225 8888 to book), and Elder Hall (7:30pm, $28/$23/$15, 131 246 to book [Bass]). I'll probably attempt to make the gig at The Gov myself, if anyone is interested in joining me.

Other gigs or passing interest to me include Cock-Eyed Molly on July 18th, Spiral Dance on August 9th, September 13th, and 11th October, and Holly Throsby on September 6th. Then again I haven't really been paying attention to whose playing when recently.

Merde! The Idea of North gig conflicts with the next Abney Park gig. What am I to do? Oh well, putting something steampunkish together in time probably wouldn't happen anyway.

Might be interested in TioN, it's now in my calendar.

Also on that weekend are Tinpan Orange at the Grace Emily on Sat 30th August, and again at the Wheatsheaf on Sunday afternoon. I caught them earlier this year (with no foreknowlegde of the band) at the Grace Emily after seeing Operator Please, and was entranced.

Have a listen... and I can lend you the albums if you like it :)

Sounds interesting indeed. Hmmmm. Grace Emily or The Wheatie?

Possibly both... but more likely to be the Grace Emily for me. Last time there wasn't even a ticket price, although admittedly we didn't arrive until 11pm... I think that's standard at both those venues tho, no real price for admission :)

I'll bring along the albums next Tuesday so you can listen to the whole thing. I must add that their violinist/mandolinist/mini-guitarist is a brilliant player, very versatile and skilled. And I just love the singer's voice....

Didn't take any video that time tho.

The next Abney Park gig - being the one on the other side of the planet?

Is there something you're not telling us, sir? Twenty-fourth century, indeed...

Atlanta in August? Might be bearable. Besides I can probably catch up with a few friends at Dragon*Con as well. But I don't think I shall. Even without the scheduling conflict.

Have you seen the video of Sleep Isabella from the Edison gig http://nstv.fdiskc.com/abneypark/edison/APEdisonSleep427.mov. Definitely makes me want to see them live, albeit after spending a lot on some steampunk gear. At least I've found someone willing to do nice waistcoats; now all I have to do is convince her that coats are within her ability (they are, but she is insecure on her abilities as a tailor).

I can dream.
