Finally got some time to mention what I did over my summer holidays weekend.

On Saturday there was the traditional English Ale up at Uraidla featuring Spiral Dance, Hot For Joe, G.O.T.H. and Petal the Giant, and the traditional in-fire-season-because-they-extended-the-ban-yet-again bonfire. It all went amazingly well, even though Spiral had just replaced their bass player less than a week before. Kerryn showed she has lips as well when she blew a impressive trumpet solo in Voodoo Bayou (until you start swapping between brass and wind you don't realise how really impressive this is). It was cool to see a whole dance floor of people being rooted to the spot grooving to be trees during the rendition of The Oak. The final circles of Burning Times could finally be performed without running into too many things, and people reported the energy raised was very intense (but pleasurable). I found it curious that on four seperate occaisions young woman were described to me as virgins by themselves and their friends, considering that the virgin sacrifice was next week, at least until I realised that they were saying they were event virgins. Also I discovered that at least three young women lied to me most monsterously when they claimed to be unable to dance. Such deceit was subsequently proven by accompanying on them onto the dance floor and putting the matter to the question. Intensely. Although many people did wonder what [livejournal.com profile] enkorvaks actually had in his water bottle (it was pure DHMO), as he spent the entire evening in interperative dance (although apparently his thighs regretted it the next day or two). Lots of hugs and neck and back massages were appropriately and inappropriately (ie: randomly) dispensed, and much fun was had by all.

The flute music continued on Sunday with the "We're still too young to die..." gig by Jethro Tull. The mixing (especially of the vocals) left a bit to be desired, but otherwise the music was excellent, Ian Anderson's stage presence was magnetic, and the band veterans of the tour working extremely well together. It even included a nose-recorder solo. Seeing Jethro Tull live is well worth the effort. As an aside I found the demographics of the audience quite interesting; a sampling of approximately the 100 seats around me revealed the audience to be almost 94% middle-aged male. Scary. Especially since I probably am one by now.

Lastly I must thank [livejournal.com profile] rowlirowl for the emergency last-minute transport to Uraidla, and everyone else that attended for gracing me with their presence.

Damnit! It was not DHMO - The DHMO was diluted with hydrohol, hydrogen hydroxide and water! (as listed in my journal)
