Sorry, that should be Johnny Kalsi. Don't know where the "B" came from. We were chatting after the Afro Celt Sound System gig at Womadelaide and he was surprised I had actually heard of The Dhol Foundation which was his attempt to preserve this military musical instrument. [It's also the reason why I know ACSS's frontman wasn't available the next day at midday, but that's a whole 'nother story.]

The drum seminar he organised was also fun, especially since half the drummers only spoke French, and arrived late. He started out trying to show how each drum sounded like individually, but the latecomer thought that they had just started playing, so he joined in. Another person thought it was time to start jamming and soon Johnny just through his carefully prepared notes in the air and the supposed seminar devolved into a drumming jam fest.

Although listening to their latest stuff on the web it has a much heavier Afro-Celt bias than original. But then I liked the original, which was 6 dhol players going at it full speed.

Hearing the music wants to make me go. Shall I grab you a ticket? It will be $A40.

Sorry for not making it to your bake sale but it was rather wet out.
