cannot tear the day to shreds
Oct. 8th, 2011 12:10 pmDon't think I'm up to seeing Amaya Laucirca tonight at The Wheatie after all. Not so much because of pain or exhaustion but rather because my musical tastes have transitioned again and I'm not that interested in her stuff at the moment. Probably because I've been listening to the preview of Peter Gabriel's new album New Blood (via his web-site), and any of music would just spoil the experience. Note these are not just orchestral versions of his songs, but in almost every case a complete reimaging of the songs. Worthy in their own right, but very interesting when compared to the original tracks, many of which were my favourites. Definitely something to grab on its release on Monday. [I think my favourite so far is Rhythm of the Heat which is just ... brilliant. Then again ever since Mike Oldfield's Platinum I'm been a sucker for whispered vocals, and I've found that Peter's fourth album (later renamed Security) was always one of his strongest albums, despite the fact that few people were unable to listen to it completely without becoming depressed (which was a shame because they then missed the cartharisis at the end). ] |
