[FRINGE] is that ... jack black?
Mar. 8th, 2011 12:24 amI know I won't get this post finished before tonight starts being tomorrow, so for the purposes of this discussion I'll assume yesterday is today, which found me going to the Old Spiegeltent (cunningly renamed The Deluxe), to see The Axis of Awesome perform Songs In The Key Of Awesome, which is their new show. For those not in the know, and there are actually quite a lot of you apparently, the Axis of Awesome is a trio of comedy rock musicians. They are probably best known for Four Chords (which is a successful attempt to set every pop song every known to the same four chords) and Bird-Plane (which I find so infectious a piece of music that it recently spent a month in my head as an earworm [you have been warned]). Anyway, this show consisted entirely of new songs, including Four Chords. I particularly enjoyed their tribute to Hotel California, although I also found their paen to lasers and tribute to boy bands moving. As was the rockupational health and safety discussion on sexual harrasment. Anyway they are at the international fame part of their career and next week will be in Norway, probably doing imitations of the chef from the Muppets. They're those kind of guys. Anyway, if you like Tripod and Flight of the Conchord, give them a whirl if they come to a stage near you. Feet extremely ouchy which means I overdid today. Tomorrow is The Twoks, by which my feet will be homicidal rather than suicidal I expect. So they will probably be genocidal after seeing Jason and Brillig on Wednesday. That leaves The Ide of North on Saturday, although it's tempting to celebrate the end of the Fringe with the Axis of Awesome and Friends on Sunday. Meanwhile ouchy. |
