Spiral Dance are playing at the Brecknock this Saturday (23rd) from 8:30pm or so (until late). Come and help The Mad Dancey Thing keep dancing madly (hopefully without exploding messily, which at the moment is a strong possibility).

In an interesting coincidence, I have a ticket for Sound & Fury's Cyranose, for that very night at 9:30pm, available for the first non-Spiraller to arrange getting it off me (always assuming I can get a ticket for another session like Tuesday – otherwise I'll be having to do the Mad Dancey Thing for Sound & Fury, and I don't think they will really appreciate that as much as the Spirallers will). Or maybe I should go anyway. Gah! Moral dilemmas that could be solved by breaking the Anti-Cloning Conventions of 2038 are annoying!

Later on, there is the big combined gig with Wendy Rule and Triple Aspect on March 29, which should be fun. Wendy is offering $100 dollar an hour Tarot readings as a side-line on her trip here. That reminds me, the Adelaide Tarot Guild is having some meetings at the SA Writer's Centre. Must try and remember when they are on, as several people in my friends list might have a passing interest.

Oh, and they have announced the date and theme of the Yule Feast:

Does anyone want to see The Idea of North at the Fringe on either the 28th or 29th of February? Two one hour shows (the first is their generic show, the second is a jazz-themed show) at the Promethean at 7pm and 9pm, $20 ($14C) each. If we get three or more people booking at once someone gets a free DVD, CD or T-Shirt (probably not me as I have everything except the DVD and don't wear T-shirts).

For those who don't know The Idea of North, they are a great acapella group, with an energetic and fun live show that is well worth seeing. [The Australian government even went so far as to give them to a foreign King (I forget which one off the top of my head) for his birthday (but the foolish monarch gave them back afterwards). What's the use of absolute power if you can't abuse it once in a while...]

And yes, they are playing other shows, it's just I'm already booked (or in one case triple booked) on the other days.

And a free ticket to Cyranose on Saturday is still available...

I think that the reason that our Glorious State Government puts on four major national events in the same fortnight (plus a bit), is that they can report the boost to the state's tourist economy in that period for each event, getting four times the bang for the buck.

Anyway, the big race on the weekend meant that I had a lovely trip in to the city dodging muscle cars as they attempted to park at all of Adelaide's excellent (and not so excellent) restaurants. Anyway, it doesn't become really dangerous to cycle near the racetrack until after the race. That's when all the motorheads attempt to emulate their favourite drivers, at least until a near miss that nearly scratches their paintwork [<shock> <horror>] knocks some perspective back into them. Makes living near the track really exciting.

Having successfully made it to the venue, despite road closures for the race and the ancillary events, I was disappointed to discover that Peter Berner's self-titled show, Peter Berner, had been cancelled "due to his being unable to get out of his radio commitments" and that "I was free to use my ticket for any of his shows next week." Personally I think that the advance ticket sales were probably less than stellar and it's convenient to condense the show run. But this still leaves me a problem of finding time to actually go next week. It looks like whatever day I don't do The Idea of North is going to be Peter Berner.

That leaves me pretty well fully booked for February, especially since I also have to find time to do other important stuff, such as collate playtest reports for our group for Swashbucklers of the 7 Skies. Thankfully I've got at least 12 hours more than most of the other playtest groups to get my report in. <grin> I miss having an endurance greater than "possibly one thing a day."

Tomorrow [Fringe 0]: The Fringe officially opens with a massive street party and I see Corinne Grant in Out of Order. Stay tuned for my glowing review.
