mike is dead

The worm drives helically through the wood
And does not know the dust left in the bore
Once made the table integral and good;
And suddenly the crystal hits the floor.
Electrons find their paths in subtle ways,
A massless eddy in a trail of smoke;
The names of lovers, light of other days—
Perhaps you will not miss them. That’s the joke.
The universe winds down. That’s how it’s made.
But memory is everything to lose;
Although some of the colors have to fade,
Do not believe you’ll get the chance to choose.
Regret, by definition, comes too late;
Say what you mean. Bear witness. Iterate.

—John M. Ford

For those of you who haven't heard from other sources, John M. Ford is dead. A great light has passed from the universe and suddenly it is now a much sadder and colder place for all who are left. I must steal his words for this has left me with none of my own.

Sadness.

And what really sucks was I wanted to go to Minicon this year (one of the reasons being that I hoped to renew my aquaintaince with The Scribblies [Mike especially]) but decided to put it off to next year...

The universe is not playing fair!

I'm sorry you missed the chance. I guess it's a reminder that there's not always next time...
