what was the name of that movie again, you know, the one where people did something to somebody...

Does anyone remember the name of a British heist movie (in this case a bank robbery), that goes wrong, trapping the culprits inside. However the police are ordered to hand over control of the operation to a private psychological warfare (psy ops) company (that may have been called "cyclops" or at least had a single eye as it's corporate logo), headed by a woman who was a former police inspector that didn't manage to "join the boys club." Anyway the whole heist was actually a complicated plan by the woman in charge of the psy ops company to gain revenge on a corrupt senior cop, using the innocent pawns of the heist gang (who actually have their escape, via body bags, arranged by her as well). I think her daughter ended up in the bank as well.

Anyone have suggestions on what this movie might have been called. Or who starred in it.

Ross thinks it was remade in the US with Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster and Kevin Spacey - IMDB foo coming up!

Nope - dead end. No indication that 'Inside Man' is a remake (although it does star the dishy Brit Clive Owen.)

Thanks for your help. I can remember several iconic themes for the film, and the lead actors and actresses, except I've never been good at remembering their names. I've always preferred to think of them as their characters.

You're Dead?

From Amazon: "A beautiful bank robbery staged by a veteran expert and his two exuberant heirs-apparent. Eddie the cocky leader, and his cohort Ian dream of adventure, riches and fame, while legendary thief and safe cracker Maitland harbors more complicated motives. Nevertheless the trio unites in an ingenious scheme. The plan is meticulous, the results are disastrous. Dressed in Saville row suits and bowler hats, the criminals confidently execute the heist, but an unexpected and unwelcome rival gang compromises the robbery. A throng of Police and SWAT teams arrive. The authorities led by a bungling Inspector Badger, stage a raid that goes horribly wrong. A seige ensues and the would-be robbers become hostages, unwillingly allied with this suspect crew of new colleagues and an enigmatic woman named Jo. The assault continues outside the bank, under the efficient supervision of Professor Corner and her mysterious Cyclops agency, but the situation inside gets even more complicated..."

Starring John Hurt, Claire Skinner and Rhys Ifans.

Sounds like fun.

Yes! Well done! You win an Internets!

Now, to find me a copy closer than Amazon.

Barbara Flynn was the actress I was trying to remember. But I really should have remembered Inspector Badger!

No I'm not!

Although one must admit it was rather worrying reading "You're Dead?" on the summary of recent comments made in my LJ, before one realised the context in which it had been made. <grin>
