the end of an era
I have to admit that the following fan video, Caan & Company, did remove a lot of the sour taste from the ending to the latest season of Dr Who. I agree that the only winners in the final episodes were Dalek Fred (who has apparently shot to posthumous super-stardom [literally]), and Dalek Caan (who got all the best lines [in fact, the only good lines in the final three episodes]). Otherwise I found the ending an entirely self-congratulatory ego piece. At least this time RTD didn't fall for the trap of treating his season finale villians as competent (and then having to resort to a deus ex machina to extract the Doctor and companions). I thought the treatment of the Daleks in series 1 and 2 to be quite good, and almost worthy of rescinding my belief that there is no Dalek story after Genesis of the Daleks. It didn't last. Via |
