Today I went down to see The Idea of North play their second gig (Ballads By Candlelight) at St Peter's Cathedral. What can you really say about an internationally acclaimed a cappella group who can fill an entire cathedral with eager fans waiting in absolute breathless silence for them to fill the cathedral with their delightful harmonies again. Unlike last year, this wasn't completely unplugged – they had a single mike and repeater speakers so that the fans up the back (and the "ceiling fans" in the gallery) could hear. But for those of us at the front (arriving an hour early has it's advantages in that I got a second row seat), it was purely acoustic.

Bliss!

Whilst I will be making every attempt to attend the various engagements over the next three days, I expect that my ultra-rare premium deluxe limited collectors-edition (and definitely not common) sense will kick in and tell me to rest soon. Forgetting the names of performers you've known for over a decade and have sung with is marginally acceptable. Forgetting that it probably means you are going hypo isn't. So if I don't make it, please realise it is simply because I am busy stacking Zs and accept my apologies in advance.
